Luco Quick Dry Gold Size This size is a clear gilder's varnish designed for fast leaf work. it may also be used as a clear protective top coat over leaf, lettering and other decorative work. Where time permits use Luco Slow Set Gilder's Oil for greater brilliance. Luco Quick Dry Gold Size will be ready for gilding in 1 to 3 hours, depending upon temperature and humidity. Gilding tip...to determine if the size is ready for gilding, gently touch the size with the back of your knuckle. The skin on your knuckle should feel a nice steady pull when you take your knuckle away from the surface. If you have any residue on your skin it is too soon. If you do not feel a pull similar to removing masking tape from your skin, you waited too long and should re-apply the size. Please keep in mind that gilding is an art in itself and expect a lot of trial and error before you get it right.
